Christmas at the Quarter

Waterside Quarter was full of festive cheer on Saturday with a free event hosted by Shanly Homes and Sorbon Estates. Between 2pm and 6pm visitors enjoyed festive music and carols from Victorian carollers Hartley Voices, 18th Maidenhead Scout Group, and Girlguiding Maidenhead. A giant snow globe filled with a snowy scene was a huge hit and lots of fun.

Roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and hot chocolate were enjoyed whilst new Czech restauranteurs, ToMo Tankovna, gave out free samples of their European cuisine and held a lucky dip to win merchandise. Proprietor Tomasz Balsam,  said “The support we had from the locals was truly overwhelming, thank you to everyone who came out, drew a number and stopped to talk with us about our upcoming venture. The chilly weather didn’t stop the crowds queuing to try our chef’s delicious goulash and homemade bread. We had a wonderful time speaking to our future guests, and we look forward to joining the Waterside Quarter community”.

Independent stall holders selling Christmas gifts including Keeeps Pottery, Frieda Living, and chocolate retailer Cocoba proved popular with the crowds.

At 5.30pm the Christmas star atop of the stunning 18ft high Christmas tree was switched on by 8-year-old competition winner, Yaman, from Maidenhead.
